ARBAH AL ARBAH -- In Hebrew, this means 4 x 4--the name given certain
jeep-like Israeli military vehicles. It also is the name of a quartet
of
Israeli soldiers who entertain comrades stationed away from home. The
quartet, which visited
 |
Ner Tamid Synagogue in Rancho Bernardo on May 1,
included, second from left, guitarist Eyal Heller, vocalist (and guitarist)
Liron Lev, vocalist Avital Kovesh and percussionist Yogev Haravi. Rabbi
Arnold Kopikis, at far left, added to the ensemble when he joined one
number as a singer. Ner Tamid's appreciative crowd, including an
enchanted Jacques Zweilich, 7, and his family, also got into the act, |

singing in welcome to the group: Bashana haba'a, which the congregation
thoughtfully had transliterated onto a song sheet. With many senior citizens
attending the joyful concert,

one could almost hear their thinking
as the youthful and good-looking soldiers performed with such talent:
"Have I got a grandchild for you!" Following the concert, the soldiers
were
