As retold by
Bruce Lowitt
Father Brown and Rabbi Goldstein, good friends, owned a lot where they built
a small synagogue in one corner and a small church in the other.
They also bought a small car together to share between them. As they admired it,
Father Brown ran into his church, came out with a vial of Holy Water, and
blessed their car.
Rabbi Goldstein mistook this for a Baptism and, not to be outdone, rushed into
his synagogue, came back with a hacksaw. And he cut off the end of the tailpipe.
