San Diego (special) -- Two prominent members of San Diego County's
Jewish community—Irwin Jacobs and Sol Price—have been rated as being
among the top 400 political donors in the nation. Both men are Democrats.
Jacobs, of Qualcomm fame, donated $333,000 to various candidates and
causes in the last election, while Price, founder of the Price Clubs, donated
$197,500. Among recipients of their largesse was Rep. Susan Davis (D-San
Diego).
Other San Diegans who made the exclusive club of big donors, and their
company affiliations, included Charles and Darlyn Davenport (SeaWest Windpower),
John & Becky Moores (San Diego Padres), Alex & Joan Spanos (San
Diego Chargers), Ted & Faye Waitt (Gateway), and John & Cristy
