San Diego (special) -- While the rest of us are still recovering from
the last election, Larry Remer, head of the Primacy Group, is back at it
again. The political consultant has been signed up for the San Diego City
Council campaign of Ralph Inzunza Jr. Inzunza is seeking the 8th Councilmanic
District seat that Juan Vargas gave up after winning a state Assembly seat
in another Remer-run campaign.
Although the crowd of candidates for the Feb. 27th special election
is growing, seemingly by the minute, Inzunza is likely to be one of the
favorites in the field. He had served as chief aide to Vargas for six years,
and also has name identification as the son of Councilman Ralph Inzunza
Sr. Of neighboring National City.
Remer helped win two other San Diego City Council campaigns last November:
those of 3rd District Councilwoman Toni Atkins and 7th District Councilman
Jim Madaffer. In previous year, he consulted on such successful campaigns
as those of District Attorney Paul Pfingst, and City Councilmembers George
Stevens and Valerie Stallings.
