September 20, 1922— "The Tifereth Israel Synagog," The Jewish Community News, page 18: Many tasks, at first seemingly insurmountable, are overcome through hard work on the part of those interested in the successful completion of that task. So it was when a building to house the Tifereth Israel synagogue was first proposed. At first considered an impossibility, in time, thanks to the zeal and devotion of a few conscientious workers, the dream of an Orthodox Synaogog for San Diego became a reality.  For many a day the Orthodox Community felt the need of a permanent building to house the Congregation. Service were held now at one home, then at another, but as is often the case, under such circumstances, little interest was manifested. Today, the Congregation Tifereth Israel, in addition to having its own building, conducts a modern Talmud Torah or Hebrew School.  Thanks for the growth of the Congregation are due to Mr. Jacob Goldgraber, its former president. Associated with Mr. Goldgraber, who by their contributions and time made possible the present building, are Mr. Wrottenberg, Mr. I. Frank, Mr. Abraham Pomeranz, Mr. I.T. Davidson, Mr. H.S. Wolf, Mr. Wm Frieden, Mr. Wm. Plame and Mr. Breitbard.

July 17, 1947—"Weitzen-Breitbard Betrothal Told," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard of 3219 33rd Street are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Erlene Joyce, to Joseph Weitzen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weitzen, Sr.of 4062 Hillandale Road. Joyce is a recent graduate of Herbert Hoover High School, while Joseph is attending San Diego State College where he is a junior. He is taking a pre-medical course there.  The couple will be married some time next June.

May 1949—Lou Mogy, "Sports Around Town," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 5: It was very interesting to see many of our oldtimers come out for the B'nai B'rith Cavalcade. Among those were Dave Frank, Sam Smith, Frank Pomeranz, Paul Nestor, Ted Rosenfeld, Abe Dubin, Carl Esenoff, Maurice Weinberger, Morris Breitbard, Edward M. Saron and Hyman Effron.  Leo Greenbaum, Irwin Schulman, Harry Bennett, Lou Moorsteen ahd Herman Sarfan could probably tell some interesting stories about the early days in san Diego. It was indeed a pleasure to see a man who has been an active member of B'nai B'rith for 59 years still going strong. Congratulations to you, George Grossmeyer!

November 14, 1949—"Personals," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard were among the visitors to the Men's Annual Convention of District Number 4, Grand Lodge, B'nai B'rith, which was held recently in Las Vegas, Nevada.

January 27, 1950—"The Cradle," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: A seven pound, four ounce boy, David Allen, has joined the hosuehold of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Bard of 2830 Felton Street. David was born January 10th in the Mercy Hospital. Proud maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard, joined the baby's paternal grandmother, Mrs. Becky Bard in welcoming David. Rabbi Gardner, Mohel from Los Angeles, performed the Briss on January 18th.

May 26, 1950—"Personals," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard left San Diego on May 22nd for an extended trip to the East. While there they will visit friends and relatives in New York, Maine and Chicago.

July 21, 1950—"The Cradle," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: There is now a foursome in the household of Joyce and Joseph Weitzen with the addition of 8 pound, 11 1/2 ounce, Barbara Jo, who joins her sister, Judy Lynn, 18 months.  Barbara Jo was born at Mercy Hospital on Saturday, July 8th. Glad to welcome her into the family are her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard and her paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weitzen.

December 1, 1950—"The Cradle," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3:  It's a girl for the Robert Breitbards, who welcomed 6 pound 10 ounce Denise Clare into their home. Denise, who joins her 2 1/2 year old sister, Gayle, was born on November 14 at the Mercy Hospital. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard of San Diego and Mr. and Mrs. Hamburger of New York City.

February 2, 1951—"The Cradle," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard are celebrating the birth of their 12th grandchild, Neil David, newly born son of Mr. and MRs. Al Breitbard. Six pound, 7 ounce Neil was born Jan. 20 in Mercy Hospital. He joins his brother, Allan, who is three, in the Breitbard household.  Other proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Morris Hoenigsberg of St. Louis, Mo.

March 2, 1951—"Personals," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3:  Watching their son, Edward, become installed as President of the Southern California B'nai B'rith Council in Los Angels brought about a double celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Morris Breitbard who recently celebrated their 42nd Wedding Anniversary. Following their visit to Los Angeles the Breitbards traveled to Las Vegas.

June 13, 1952—"Personals," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weitzen had as their guest last week their granddaughter, Miss Judith Lynn Weitzen, aged 3.  Estelle and Fred visited Miss Judith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Weitzen (Joyce Breitbard) in Calexico over the Decoration Day weekend and brought the honored guest back with them.  The Ed Breitbards and Grandpa Morris Breitbard also visited with the young Weitzens....The young crowd will be glad to hear that Nancy Weitzen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weitzen, is flying home from Worcester, Mass., and is expected in San Diego, June 18th...
