of Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School, page 1: We are so pleased that in
conjunction with the first yarzheit of Mr. Leonard Zanville, a group of 11
family donors generously responded to our request to contribute towards the
purchase of 8 new microscopes for use in our science program. Mr. Zanville
dedicated our Science Lab in memory of his mother, Hattie Zanville, 33 years ago
and always took special pride in the program. We thank microscope underwriters,
Mrs. Shirley Bloomenthal, Eilene and Arthur Cummins, Lucy Goldman, Audrey and
Karl Jacobs, the entire Katz family (Stuart * Carol, Michael & Christina,

Richard M Braun, MD orthopaedic surgical hand and upper extremity
specialist. Medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine,
orthopaedic surgical residency certificate from the Johns Hopkins Hospital,
postdoctoral NIH fellowship from the Cornell University Medical Center and the
Hospital for Special Surgery. Military service at US NH Balboa and deployment
with 1st Division United States Marine Corps, Vietnam, honorable
discharge 1966. Lifetime member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand
Member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American
Orthopaedic Association. Associate clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery at
UCSD, consultant in Hand Surgery US Navy Medical Center, San Diego, and clinical
instructor in orthopaedic surgery at USC. Member of the California Orthopaedic
Association, the Western Orthopaedic Association, the California Medical
Association, and the San Diego County Medical Society. Past president of the
Sunderland Society for Peripheral Nerve Study, past vice chief of staff of Sharp
Memorial Hospital, past chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at
Alvarado Hospital and Medical Center, and president elect of the California
Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery. Author of over 65 original articles
and book chapters involving topics associated with nerve injury, reconstructive
hand and upper extremity surgery. Active private practice of orthopaedic surgery
of the upper extremity and surgery of the hand 1966-present, San Diego, CA
Active participant in pre-medical mentor program at San Diego State University
and the University of CA at San Diego. Included regularly in San Diego
Magazine’s list of Best Medical Specialists in San Diego. Member of Tifereth
Israel Synagogue 1964 – presen member of Temple Har Shalom, Park City
Utah from its beginning in 2000 – present.
Donated library at Tifereth Israel in memory of Sherry
Caplan, donated classrooms at Tifereth Israel in memory of Rabbi
Monroe Levens and Cantor Eugene Goldberger. Has given funds to a hand
surgeon in Israel for machines that were needed for patient care. Married to Sue
Braun, 3 children, 7 grandchildren.
