April 10, 1947—"Old Folks
Celebrate Passover Seder in 'Home'" Southwestern Jewish Press, page
4: Places were laid for 54 guests at the first night Passover seder at the San
Diego Hebrew Home for the Aged Friday night. Rabbi Bergman conducted the ritual
with Joe Dembo and Sam Schissell assisting, and members of the home and their
families participating. This is the third year that the old folk's Home has been
in existence and the sederim have special significance to the residents of the
Home, particularly when they are able to have their children and their families
at their side. Two hundred guests attended the seder at Temple Beth Israel.
Rabbi
Morton J. Cohn conducted the traditional service with the participation of
Temple members, their guests and their children. Many of the young guests sat at
the head table with Rabbi and Mrs. {Sally} Cohn and assisted with the reading.
Frankee Dee Hutler, 4, found the "Aphekomin" (hidden matzo) for which
she was awarded a silver dollar by Rabbi Cohn. A number of servicemen were
guests of the Sisterhood. Many private sederum were conducted throughout
the city. Mr. and Mrs. Al Neumann had twenty nine guests at their seder this
year. The Neumanns have had a seder i their home every Passover since 1913, and
each year they have had approximately thirty guests at their table. Most of the
guests have been attending for many years. The George Neumanns every year since
the first seder; the Harry Tenebaums since 1918; the Robert Gordons for the past
eighteen years. This year was a particularly joyous occasion for the Neumanns as
their son Sidney was able to join the family circle. Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Addleson also had twenty-nine at their family seder. Mr. and Mrs. George
Shelley had nineteen members of the family with them. Seventeen guests attended
the seder at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Fleischman and Mr. and Mrs. Abraham
Abrahamson had the "holy number" thirteen at their table. Mr and Mrs.
Irwin Fischer had fourteen at their home for first night seder. Most of those
attending were friends who families are not in San Diego, and more this seder
brought home to the guests the traditional observance that they had previously
shared with their relatives. Photographs were taken at the seder, which
they will take home. AT the Fischer Seder were: Jacob Baranov, Mrs. Fischer's
father; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Beinner; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Gold, Mr and Mrs. Henry
Goldy; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Kattleman, Saul Gold, Lou Margolis, Mr. and Mrs.
Fischer and their son, Bruce.
July 31, 1947—"Herbert Gordons Announce Birth of Son," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gordon of 3443 Palm Street, proudly announce the birth of their son, David Alan, Monday evening July 28,1 947, at Mercy Hospital. The baby, who weighed 6 pounds and 12 ounces at birth, will have a Bris next Monday at Mercy Hospital with Rabbi A. L. Rosenblum performing it. David is the Grodon's second child, also being welcomed by his 14-year-old sister Elene. Welcoming grandparents are Mrs. Ida Gordon of Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Addleson of 3211 30th Street in San Diego.

Wedding Anniversary are giving a luncheon and card party at Temple Center at

Fannie Addleson, Jennie Kochberg, Jennie Schwartz, Laura Simons, Anna Lipshitz,

Blank, Mrs. Rose Neumann spoke briefly on behalf of the Organization which she
has been selected to lead during the coming year. Honoring his many years
of service to the Congregation in many acapacities including his services as
President a number of times, and as the out-going President this year, Mr. {Isadore

2) "Addlesons to Celebrate Golden Anniversary," Southwestern
Jewish Press, page 4: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Addleson of 3211 30th Street will
celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, January 15, 1950. A
celebration in their honor is being tendered the couple by their children at the
El Cortez Hotel Sunday evening at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs Addleson were married in
1900 at Warsaw, Poland, and came to the United States in 1902, where they lived
in Ogden, Utah, for 20 years and then moved to San Diego in August, 1927. Mr.
Louis Addleson has been engaged in the cattle business ever since his arrival in
San Diego. At the present time he is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagels
No. 244 and is a board member of the Tifereth Israel Synagogue and is very
active in many of its activities. Fannie Addleson has been active in Jewish
community affairs for a number of years. She is a member of the Daughters of
Israel, the J.C.R.A. and has many varied interests. The following are the
children of Mr. and Mrs. Addleson: Samuel Addleson, Edward Addleson, Mrs. Harry
Wax, Mrs. Maurice Mackall of San Francisco, Mrs. Herbert Gordon, Mrs. William
Breitbard and Harry Addleson. At the present time, Mr. and Mrs. Addleson have 11
grandchildren. The reception and dance at the El Cortez Hotel being tendered the
anniversary couple by their children is expected to
attract more than 300 well-wishers. A 50th anniversary wedding ceremony will be
the highlight of the evening. Rabbi Monroe Levens of the Tifereth Israel
Synagogue will officiate.

5: .... I congratulate—Mr. and Mrs. Louis Addleson on their Fiftieth
Wedding Anniversary. It is indeed a pleasure and great happiness for them to be
with their children, grandchildren, friends and relatives on this occasion. May
they live for many more years.
4) "Guardians," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 6: The
Guardians New Year's Eve Dinner-Dance held in the Don Room of the El Cortez
Hotel was reported to have been a huge success, both from a standpoint of
attendance and due to the wonderful time had by all. There were 118 paid
admissions and later in the evening forty teen-aged couples were admitted free
of charge to enjoy the danceable music of Jay Eslick and his orchestra. An
announcement of the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Addleson was
made during the evening. Mr. Harrold Steckel and his new bride Dorothy brought
their wedding party of about twenty to the dinner following their marriage
ceremony.
March 10, 1950—"The Cradle," Southwestern Jewish Press, page
4: Mr. and Mrs. Danny Orlansky announce the birth of Gary Martin born in the
Mercy Hospital on March 5th. Seven pound Gary was welcomed into the family
circle by his maternal grandparents, MR. and Mrs. Edward Addleson, and his
paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Orlansky, and his paternal (sic,
maternal) great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis (sic, Louis) Addleson. A brith
will be held Sunday, March 12th in the home of the Danny Orlanskys.
March 28, 1950—"Tifereth Israel News," Southwestern
Jewish Press, page 6: The Service on Friday evening, March 24, was dedicated
to the forthcoming campaign of the United Jewish Fund. An Oneg Shabbat followed
the Service, during which time a discussion took place on the needs, purposes
and functions of the United Jewish Fund. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Orlansky,
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Addleson, grandparents of a new-born boy, and Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Addleson, great-grandparents; also Mrs. Sam Tepper...

March 21, 1952—1) "The
Cradle," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: Mr. and Mrs. Theodore
Albert (nee Lora Dean Addleson) of Inglewood, Calif., announce the birth of
their first child, a son, Loren Howard, March 5th, at Queen of Angels Hospital
in L.A. The baby weighted 6 lbs, 9 ozs. The Bris was held March 16th at the
family home, Rabbi Bornestine of L.A. officiating, assisted by Rabbi A. (sic,
N.) I. Addleson. Maternal Grandparents and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Addleson of
this city and the great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis Addleson, also of
San Diego. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Phil Albert of Alhambra,
Calif.
2) "Tifereth Israel News," Southwestern
Jewish Press, page 8: At the regular Sabbath Evening Services on Friday,
March 21, at 8:15 p.m., Rabbi Levens will address the Congregation. Cantor
Joseph Cysner and the Choir will officiate. Mr. and Mrs. A. Brenes will be
honored on the occasion of their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Members of the
family who will serve as hosts at the Oneg Shabbat, are: Mr. and Mrs. Sy Fein,
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Brenes, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Goodman, Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Aved,
and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Brenes. Sabbath Morning Services on March 22 will
begin at 8:30 a.m.. Mr. and Mrs. A. Brenes will be hosts following the service.
The Family and Youth Service will take place at 10:30 a.m., after which will
follow a lunch for all members of the Junior Congregation. ** Rabbi Levens will
deliver the sermon at the Sabbath Evening Services on friday, March 28, at 8:15
p.m. with Cantor and Choir officiating. Hosts for the Oneg Shabbat will be: Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Addleson, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Addleson, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Addleson,
and members of their families in honor of the arrival of two baby boys.
Sabbath Morning service at 9 :00 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kader announce the Bar
Mitzvah of their son, Errol. The Congregation is cordially invited.
