Philip and Ruth Slonim have not only been most generous to Ner Tamid Synagogue and other Jewish philanthropies, they have quietly helped subsidize adult education activities, and they did volunteer work for the Israeli Army for many summers.  Phil in addition to all of the above, gives of himself, just as generously, regularly visiting the sick, helping Jewish Family Service, giving a hand.  When a resident at Seacrest Village at Poway, now deceased, lamented not being able to attend High Holiday services, somehow a ticket to Ner Tamid was left for her. Philip established a Monday morning program, "Points of View," here at Seacrest, to bring us a wide variety of programs, music, vidoes, speakers.  For years he has kept up this self-imposed responsibility—Molly Cohen, January 18, 2005
