As retold by
Bruce Lowitt
A rabbi and a priest get into an accident, all but
demolishing their cars. But remarkably, neither has a scratch on him.
"This must be a sign from God," the rabbi says. "God must have
meant that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace the rest of
our days."
And the priest said, "I agree with you completely."
And the rabbi says, "And look at this. Another miracle. My car is a wreck
but this bottle of Mogen David wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink
this wine and celebrate our good fortune."
He hands the bottle to the priest, who takes a few gulps, then hands it back to
the rabbi - who put the cap on the bottle without taking so much as a sip.
The priest asks, "Aren't you going to celebrate our good fortune,
too?"
And the rabbi says, "No, I think I'll just wait for the police."
