Tekiah! Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean sounded a shofar presented to
him by the National Jewish Democratic Council
Thursday night (Feb. 10) at a reception preceding a meeting of the Democratic
National Committee in Washington D.C. .
With NJDC Executive Director Ira Forman and Executive Committee Member Sunita
Leeds standing by, the incoming DNC chairman "ably sounded" the ram's
horn, according to Forman—analogies between the Republican
administration and the biblical city of Jericho no doubt coming to the mind of
all attendees.
Also speaking at the NJDC event were outgoing DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe and
three Jewish members of Congress: Jerrold
Nadler of New York, Allyson
Schwartz of Pennsylvania and Robert
Wexler of
Florida. —Donald
